Tasting in the Dark

Dr. Hoby Wedler is a blind Ph.D. Chemist, entrepreneur, and sensory storyteller. He designed Tasting in the Dark in 2011, at the request of Francis Ford Coppola. It was initially experienced by consumers at the famed film director’s Sonoma County wineries and around the world by wine connoisseurs.

During the evening, guests will be blindfolded for approximately 45 minutes and will smell, taste and, together. We will deeply analyze a wide variety of olive oils and vinegars from around the world. We’ll discuss their magical and unique properties, forming a new-found love and appreciation for them. Most importantly though, guests will understand how they can use their other senses when their primary sense is temporarily removed.  The tasting will conclude with a dessert reception.
