Brotherhood Program with Gene Sapakoff

Sunday, March 30, 2025 1 Nisan 5785

11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Join veteran sports columnist Gene Sapakoff, who spent 38 years at the Charleston Post and Courier, for an engaging and insightful presentation about his recent experience as a Sar-El volunteer in Israel. Now serving as an official Sar-El ambassador, Gene will share his firsthand account of working alongside volunteers from around the world to assist the Israel Defense Forces with essential non-combat tasks, from packing food boxes to assembling medical kits and cleaning equipment.

With Sar-El’s mission more critical than ever, Gene will provide a behind-the-scenes look at what it’s like to live and work on an Israeli military base as a volunteer, discuss the practical aspects of participating in the program, and reflect on the deep connections forged among volunteers of different faiths who share a love for Israel. The lecture will include short videos, a Q&A session, and insights from Gene’s own life-changing experience in Israel.

This is a unique opportunity to learn about how everyday people can make a meaningful impact through volunteer service, while also experiencing Israel in a truly immersive way. Whether you’re curious about the logistics of the program, the daily work involved, or the broader significance of international support for Israel, this talk will be both informative and inspiring.
